Case 04 · Northfork · Sainsbury's

A seamless path from recipe to checkout

Retail · B2B2C · Integrations

Illustration of a smartphone lying on a worktop among cooked chicken, mushrooms, garlic, parsley, cream and a bowl of penne, its screen showing a recipe card with an ingredient list, prices and an add-all-ingredients-to-basket button.
Original illustration created for this site — not a photo of the real product.

Challenge

Shoppers found inspiration in recipes but had to search for every ingredient by hand. The path to the basket was slow, and many dropped off.

My role

Led the product and the implementation with the client.

What changed

  • — Northfork's widgets and API integrated into Sainsbury's recipe experience.
  • — Every ingredient matched to real in-stock products, so the whole recipe goes to the basket in one click.
  • — Agreed with the client which metrics would prove business impact before launch.

Business impact

  • +25% product findability, +18% engagement, +7.7% average order value, +4.2% items per order.
